Thank you, Nitrus!
Update: Nitrus informs me that there's a few things that still need to be done before First Year Manny is 100% complete. He's fine for the most part, but his Revolutionary costume at the end of Year One still needs to be done, plus a few other minor things.
Progress is being made, though :)
Great job, Nitrus!
ReplyDeleteNow THIS is what I'm talking about!
ReplyDeleteThanks you guys for putting so much time into this project, I hope it eventually gets completed.
Thank you! But... what happened to the widescreen?!
ReplyDeleteOne thing at a time :)
DeleteThank you for doing this, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I just found out that I can run Grim on my Mac and it's actually working thanks to the ResidualVM. However, I can't get this Hi-res Manny go work. I have put datausr.lab in my Grim-folder I use with ResidualVM, and I've checked the box for Load user patch (unsupported). Though I'm still getting the original Manny. Manny thanks for the effort and for any help.

The Grim folder you're referring to is the one where the other LAB files are, right? e.g. DATA000.LAB, DATA001.LAB?
DeleteAlso, if you haven't already, download the official patch and just put it in the folder. No unpacking or installing, just put it in there. Get it here: http://demos.residualvm.org/patches/gfupd101.exe
If it still doesn't work once you confirm the correct directory of datausr.lab and apply the patch, you should write on the ResidualVM forums:
http://forums.residualvm.org/
On a side note, you can make the game look nicer by enabling Antialiasing. You just need to add this line to the configuration file (the file is called residualvm.ini on Windows, I don't know with Mac):
antialiasing = #num, where #num is the number of samples you want to enable (2, 4, 8 etc.)
(Info here: http://lostsoulsalliance.wordpress.com/2011/11/ )
The configuration file on a Mac should be in:
"~/Library/Preferences/ResidualVM Preferences"
Or in the same folder with ResidualVM.
Extremely Awesome!! I still can't get it to work, but thanks for the AA tip! How do I "Activate" the datausr.lab file? Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI luckily made it work! Haha, its beautiful!
DeleteHi guys, why don't you do a kickstarter thing to do this? it would be awesome and a lot of people would help you!
ReplyDeleteDamn, all this is so awesome! High res Manny still ain't working tho... Weird.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone and thank you for your effort.
ReplyDeleteIn mac, hi-res Manny works fine.
You just have to change something in the configuration file.
Go to : ~/Library/Preferences/ResidualVM Preferences . Open it and edit the line datausr_load=false
Instead of false write "true". Save it and it runs smoothly !
All this provided you have followed all instructions above and put the latest hi res manny lab file in your directory with the other .tab and .lab files.
Enjoy!
Amazing man. If I could help in any way I would. My email is: enkizit@yahoo.com I really want to keep contact with you. Send me an email when you have time. I'm working on other sides like After Effects and music. I have my own studio in UK. We could talk by email. I still play the game. It's the 125 time I finish the game.
ReplyDeleteSincerily,
Alex
This is wonderful! Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are my heroes!!!
ReplyDeletePLEASE DO MORE!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your effort. This is the best game ever, in fact it is a masterpiece of human civilization!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your effort. Is this project still alive?
ReplyDeleteIt's not dead, but it's also not exactly thriving. I've not given up hope, and neither should you!
DeleteI would really like this project to continue in giant steps but I do not know how to help you. I just want to play grim fandango in the high quality and fidelity it deserves :)
